Wine, cheese, and free books

The first ever United States World Book Night was launched tonight with a reception at the River's End Bookstore. What is World Book Night you ask? It is a celebration of reading and books which will see tens of thousands of people share books with others in their communities across America to spread the joy and love of reading on April 23.

Thirty different titles will be given away to to either non readers or struggling readers. (one of which is the highly accalaimed The Hunger Games) Book Givers (who volunteer to pass out the books at no cost to them) picked their top 3 favorite titles and then started searching within their community to find people who would benefit from the books. Recently we found out which title we receied in our shipment. I will be giving out Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo to twenty students at Fitzhugh Park School.
