While waiting to hear back from the publisher, I decided to be pro active and have my query letter professional critiqued in case I need to pursue other publishing houses. I heard back from them today and very pleased with their suggestions. Not only did I come away with it feeling like my work can be pitch perfect for a publishing house, but they also told me that my story was "powerful". I am encouraged by this and hope that if I am lucky enough to find my words in print one day that others will come away from the story feeling like they were emotionally moved as well. It takes a strong story to touch somebody where they think about it for days, or even weeks after the book has been put down. An even stronger book will bring its reader to actual tears. Writing this manuscript had done both for me, and the few people that I have let read it also walked away broken hearted. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, and at the exact time that it was meant to be. I am patiently awaiting for my time.
I have the privilege of being able to shape the minds and lives of children who are battling disabilities. It can be very trying at times, but more often than not it is very rewarding. As a mother of a child with a disability, I know the struggles that they go through on a daily basis. This allows me to have a little more compassion for the people that I work with.
